NAC (N-acetylcysteine) – properties
N-acetyl L-cysteine is a modified form of cysteine with an acetyl group attached. Cysteine is an organic chemical compound from the group of endogenous protein amino acids. Together with homocysteine and methionine, it forms a group of amino acids with sulfur. The acetyl derivative of cysteine NAC is a precursor for the synthesis of glutathione, which is mainly concentrated in the liver.
