CitraFleet

CitraFleet is available as a powder for oral solution. The powder is packaged in individual sachets, easy to use and easy to administer. 

Each sachet contains one adult dose of 15.08 g and should be dissolved in water before administration. 

This delivery form is ideal to ensure efficient absorption and fast action of the active ingredients.

CitraFleet is mainly used for:

• Cleaning out the bowel before diagnostic procedures such as colonoscopy or other endoscopic or X-ray examination. It is important that the bowel is emptied and cleaned so that the doctor can see it clearly.
• Pre-operative preparation for surgery requiring a clean bowel.

CitraFleet is indicated for use in adults and adolescents over the age of 18 and is a safe and effective product for bowel preparation prior to medical procedures.

The dosing regimen involves the following steps:

1. Mix the contents of one sachet in a glass of cold tap water, about 150 ml
2. Stir for 2-3 minutes, and if the contents get warm while stirring, wait until it cools, then drink the entire solution. When the solution is ready you should drink it immediately. The solution will have a cloudy appearance.

CitraFleet is not recommended in the following cases:

• allergy to sodium picosulfate, magnesium oxide, citric acid or any of the other ingredients in this medicine 
• congestive heart failure 
• gastric retention 
• stomach ulcer 
• blockage of the bowel or a lack of normal bowel movements 
• toxic colitis
• swollen large bowel (also known as toxic megacolon) 
• recent vomiting or nausea
• severe dehydration 
• ascites
• recent abdominal surgery, for example for appendicitis 
• intestinal perforation or obstruction
• active inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
• rhabdomyolysis
• severe kidney problems 
• hypermagnesemia

Keep in mind that after taking CitraFleet, you will have frequent watery stools. This is normal and means that the medicine is working.

Important! It is necessary to drink a large amount of clear fluids to replenish fluid and salt loss. Otherwise, the risks are dehydration, low blood pressure, fainting.

Like any medicine, Citra Fleet can cause side effects, although these do not occur in all people:

• Very common - Abdominal pain
• Common - Abdominal bloating, feeling thirsty, anal pain, tiredness, sleep disturbance, headache, dry mouth, nausea 
• Uncommon - Dizziness, vomiting, inability to control bowel movements 

CitraFleet may interact with other medicines, reducing their effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Possible interactions include:

• Oral contraceptive
• Diabetes medicines
• Antibiotic medicines
• Other laxatives, including bran
• Diuretics, e.g. furosemide
• Corticosteroids
• Digoxin
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
• Tricyclic antidepressants
• Antipsychotic drugs, lithium
• Carbamazepine
• Penicillamine

If you have taken more CitraFleet than you should, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

CitraFleet overdose can cause severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalances and severe abdominal pain. 

CitraFleet should be stored in a dry place, at temperatures below 25°C, away from moisture and heat. The product must not be used after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
