Purpose: Dermatocosmetic shampoo for dogs and cats prone to bacterial or fungal dermatitis. Can be used as supportive therapy for skin conditions caused by bacteria and fungi. Cleanses the skin and maintains an appropriate pH.

Usage: Wet the coat with warm water and apply a small amount of shampoo. Massage for approximately 5 minutes. Protect the animal's eyes and ears during bathing. Rinse carefully. Repeat if necessary.

Action of active substances:

Chlorhexidine gluconate (2%) - Organic chemical compound. Used in the gluconate or acetate formula, it acts strongly against GRAM+ bacteria and less so against GRAM-. It is mainly used as an antiseptic for skin and mucous membrane wounds or for surgical instruments. At physiological pH, chlorhexidine salts dissociate and release positively charged cations. The antibacterial effect occurs as a result of the combination with the negatively charged cations of the bacterial cell wall. In low concentrations, chlorhexidine has a bacteriostatic effect and causes the death of harmful cells by breaking down the cell membrane.

Chlorhexidine is active against GRAM + and GRAM- bacteria, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and yeasts. It is especially active against Gram + bacteria (in concentrations of ≥ 1 mg / l). In the case of fungi and Gram- bacteria, the necessary concentrations are higher: between 10-73 mg / ml. Like other cationic substances, Chlorhexidine is not absorbed by the skin - it remains at its level.

Ketoconazole (1%) - Ketoconazole - antifungal organic compound from the azole group. Spectrum of action on dermatophytes, yeasts and polymorphic fungi. Its mechanism of action consists in blocking the biosynthesis of ergosterol in cell membranes by stopping the formation of methylate-lanosterol (C14- lanosterol demethylase). The consequence of changing the permeability of the cell wall is the death of the cells that make up the fungi. Ketoconazole with topical action (e.g. creams, ointments, shampoos) can be used with confidence because the amount absorbed into the skin is very low in these forms of presentation.
