Espumisan, 50 capsules, Berlin-Chemie Ag

Indications:
Improvement of gastrointestinal symptoms induced by excessive gas accumulation in the intestine, e.g. flatulence; preparation for abdominal explorations for diagnostic purposes, such as radiography, ultrasound.
Symptoms caused by the accumulation of gas in the gastrointestinal tract can be a sign of functional disorders at this level, manifesting as pressure or bloating, fullness, belching, intestinal peristaltic movements and flatulence.

Composition:
Espumisan contains simethicone, 40 mg and excipients: gelatin, glycerol (85%), methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, quinoline yellow (E 104), orange yellow S (E 110).

Method of administration:
Gastrointestinal disorders caused by the accumulation of gas in the intestine.
Adults and adolescents: the usual recommended dose is 80 mg simethicone (2 Espumisan soft gelatin capsules), administered orally, 3-4 times a day.
Children aged 6-14 years: the usual recommended dose is 80 mg simethicone (2 Espumisan soft gelatin capsules), administered orally, 3-4 times a day.
It is recommended to take Espumisan during meals, after meals or before bedtime.
The duration of administration depends on the progression of symptoms.
If after 7 days of treatment, gastrointestinal disorders persist or other disorders appear, the patient should consult a doctor.
If necessary, Espumisan can be administered for a long period of time.
Preparation for diagnostic examinations of the abdomen: the usual dose is 240 mg simethicone, 3 times a day, the day before the examination and 80 mg simethicone on the morning of the examination.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to simethicone, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (allergy to the para group), sunset yellow S (E 110) or to any of the excipients of the drug.

Precautions:
As it contains methyl parahydrobenzoate it may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed). As it contains sunset yellow S (E 110) it may cause allergic reactions.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
No negative effects are anticipated if Espumisan is taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding because the active substance simethicone is not absorbed from the stomach and intestines into the blood. However, there are no clinical data on the use of Espumisan in pregnant women.

Driving and using machines:
No special precautions are necessary.
