Mezym 10000, 10 tablets, Berlin-Chemie Ag

Indications :
Mezym 10000 is used in children and adults with "exocrine pancreatic insufficiency".
In disorders of the exocrine function of the pancreas produced by a chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, nutritional disorders, flatulence and the Roemheldscher symptom complex; recommended in simultaneous resections of the stomach and small intestine, accelerated intestinal transit (nervousness, infectious intestinal diseases), disturbances in the hepato-biliary system, dyspepsia; the simultaneous administration of vegetable, fatty or hard-to-digest food. Mezym forte is also indicated for the elimination of gas from the intestine before diagnostic examinations (roentgen therapy).

Contraindications:
Do not use Mezym 10000:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to pancreatic enzymes, to proteins of porcine origin or to any of the other components of Mezym 10000.

Precautions:
Before using Mezym 10000, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
Mezym 10000 can be administered during pregnancy and breastfeeding. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using any medicine.

Driving vehicles and using machines:
Mezym 10000 has no effects on the ability to drive and use machines.

Mode of administration:
The dosage of Mezym 10000 is determined according to the severity of pancreatic insufficiency. The appropriate dose must be determined individually. In general, the recommended dose is 1-2 Mezym 10000 film-coated tablets 3 times a day, administered during meals. Depending on the nature of the food ingested, as well as the known or estimated degree of severity of digestive disorders, the required dose may be higher. Especially in patients suffering from cystic fibrosis, the dose should not exceed the amount of enzymes required for lipid digestion, depending on the amount and type of food ingested.
Increasing the dose is done only under the supervision of the doctor and depends on the symptomatology (eg: steatorrhea and abdominal pain). A daily enzyme dose of 15,000-20,000 lipase units per kg should not be exceeded. Dose for children should be determined only by the doctor. Film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid. In adults, the doctor will decide whether long-term administration of the drug is necessary. In children, the duration of treatment must be determined by the doctor.

Composition:
- The active substance is pig pancreas powder. One gastro-resistant tablet contains 80 – 111.111 mg of pig pancreas powder, equivalent to a minimal activity:
- lipolytic 10000 U FE
- amylolytic 7500 U FE
- proteolytic 375 U FE
Pancreas powder is obtained from pig pancreas.
- The other components are: core: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, crospovidone, magnesium stearate; gastro-resistant film: hypromellose 5 mPa·s, methacrylic acid copolymer: ethyl acrylate 1:1, 250000 suspension 30%, triethylcitrate, titanium dioxide (E 171), talc, simethicone emulsion (as a dry substance), macrogol 6000, carmellose sodium 30 mPa·s, polysorbate 80, azorubin lac (E122), sodium hydroxide.
