Pharmatex cream is a drug indicated for local contraception, without limits related to age, physiological conditions or medical pathology, being recommended by the World Health Organization as a contraceptive method that can be used without any medical restriction.

Indications:

• This local contraceptive method is intended for women of childbearing age and in particular: when there is a temporary or permanent contraindication to oral contraception or intrauterine device; after childbirth, during breastfeeding or in premenopause; when episodic contraception is necessary; in case of use of oral contraceptives, if a dose has been missed or delayed; in this case it is recommended to combine the two methods of contraception in the interval remaining until the onset of menstruation; in combination with local contraception using an intrauterine device, especially during the regular administration of certain drugs, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Therefore, you can use Pharmatex Cream without worries if you are over 35 years old, if you smoke or are breastfeeding, if you suffer from hypertension, hepatitis or diabetes. • Pharmatex cream can be used by all women, including those suffering from cardiovascular diseases (such as hypertension), metabolic disorders (hyperlipidemia, diabetes, etc.), liver diseases, breast and cervical cancer, or women who have contraindications to the contraceptive pill or intrauterine devices.

Ingredients:

• The active ingredient is benzalkonium chloride
• Each gram of vaginal cream contains 12 mg of benzalkonium chloride as a 50% aqueous solution, 24 mg
• The other ingredients are: anhydrous citric acid, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, macrogol stearate 300 and 1500, ethylene glycol (Téfose 63), lavender oil, purified water
• Protection is immediate and lasts at least 10 hours
• Benzalkonium chloride is a spermicide and antiseptic substance. In vitro studies demonstrate that the product is active on a certain number of infectious agents responsible for sexually transmitted diseases, in particular: gonococci, chlamydia, herpes virus type 2, HIV, Trichomonas vaginalis, Staphylococcus aureus. No alterations occur in the saprophytic flora and Doderlein bacilli are not affected
• Thanks to its active ingredient, benzalkonium chloride, Pharmatex Crema acts exclusively locally, without causing unwanted effects and without modifying the vaginal flora, respecting the vaginal pH.

How to use:

• Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, talk to your doctor or pharmacist
• The administration is vaginal
• Do not swallow
• It is necessary to follow the instructions for use because the effectiveness depends essentially on the correct use
• The vaginal cream is used before each sexual intercourse
• Attach the applicator to the end of the tube
• Fill the applicator with the vaginal cream up to the marked line, without leaving air bubbles inside
• Separate the tube from the applicator, insert it as deeply as possible into the vaginal cavity and slowly push the plunger to apply the vaginal cream
• The applicator is removed
• The application is facilitated by the lying position
• The protection is immediate and lasts at least 10 hours
• In case of repeated sexual intercourse it is necessary to reapply the vaginal cream
• External cleansing carried out before or immediately after sexual intercourse will be done only with water (without soap) for both partners

Precautions:

• In order not to inactivate the contraceptive effect, it is not recommended to combine it with other drugs administered vaginally (antifungals, antitrichomoniasis, antibacterials, antiseptics, antiherpetics, locally administered products containing estrogens) because any local vaginal treatment can inactivate the local contraceptive effect
• Local contraception: this method significantly reduces the risk of pregnancy, but does not eliminate it completely. Clinical efficacy is assessed using the corrected Pearl efficacy index, which is less than 1 if the product is used correctly
• Contraceptive efficacy depends essentially on correct use.
