They limit transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Shea butter strengthens the lipid barrier, protecting against irritation and the harmful effects of external factors. Caprylic-capric triglycerides complement the lack of lipids in the skin. They lubricate and rebuild the protective barrier of the epidermis.
