External antiparasitic for dogs 10-20 Kg Fypryst M, 3 pipettes, KRKA VET
Properties:
- treatment and prevention of infestations with fleas (Ctenocephalides spp) and ticks (Rhipicephalus spp., Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp.) in dogs;
- treatment and control of allergic dermatitis caused by flea bites (FAD) in dogs;
- prevention and treatment of infestations with malophagous lice Trichodectes canis in dogs.
How to use:
Route of administration: Topical
Recommended dose:
Quantities to be administered:
A pipette with a single dose of 1.34 ml spot-on solution, for a dog weighing between 10 kg and 20 kg. In this way, a minimum recommended dose of fipronil of 6.7 mg/kg is ensured.
In the absence of studies to demonstrate the safety of the product, the minimum interval between applications is 4 weeks.
The monthly treatment is recommended if there is a high risk of repeated flea infestations, if the dogs are allergic to flea bites and if there is a need to control the infestation with ticks or when frequent bathing is done with hypoallergenic or emollient shampoos . In areas where there is no increased risk of flea and tick infestations, the Fypryst spot-on solution can be administered every two or three months.
Method of administration:
Remove a pipette from the package. Hold the pipette in a vertical position with the tip up and unscrew the pipette cap. With the other end of the stopper thus removed, pierce the pipette seal. Remove the animal's hair from the midline between the backs to make the skin visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and press the tube several times to be emptied directly onto the skin.
The product is effective against flea infestations for 2 months and against ticks for up to weeks, depending on the environmental infestation. Fleas are killed within 24 hours of application.
Ingredients:
Active substances: Fipronil
Contraindications:
Due to insufficient data, the product is not administered to puppies less than 8 weeks old or weighing less than 2 kg.
Do not administer the product to sick animals (systemic diseases, fever) or to those in convalescence.
Do not administer the product to rabbits, due to the risk of serious adverse reactions or even death.
The product is indicated for dogs. Do not administer to cats, as overdose may occur.
Adverse reactions:
If the animals lick themselves, short-term hypersalivation may occur, mainly due to the excipients. Among the extremely rare suspected adverse reactions, transient skin reactions at the application site (discoloration and hair loss, itching and erythema) and general itching with alopecia can be observed. Exceptionally, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervousness), hypersalivation, vomiting or respiratory symptoms were observed.
Avoid overdose.
Precautions:
Avoid contact of the product with the animal's eyes.
Ticks on animals must be removed before using the product, to reduce the risk of communicable diseases.
It is important to make sure that the application of the product is done in an area where the animal cannot lick and it must be avoided that the animals lick each other after the treatment. Information about the effectiveness of the product after bathing/shampooing the animals is insufficient. That is why this practice is not recommended for 2 days after applying the product and more frequently than once a week. Emollient shampoos can be used before treatment, but if they are used weekly, they reduce the duration of protection against fleas to approximately 5 weeks.
Weekly bathing with medicated shampoo with chlorhexidine 2% does not affect the effectiveness of the product against fleas, as it appears from the studies carried out over a period of 6 weeks.
Dogs should not be allowed to swim in running water for 2 days after application.
Sporadically, ticks can be attached. For this reason, the transmission of infectious diseases by means of ticks cannot be completely excluded, if the conditions are unfavorable. As a rule, ticks will die and fall off the host within 24 - 48 hours after infestation, without feeding on the animal's blood. Such a sporadic area of the heads cannot be excluded during the period after the administration of the product.
Pet fleas frequently invade their beds, where the animals sleep and rest, places that must be regularly treated with appropriate insecticides and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, in case of massive infestations or when preventive measures are applied.
Use during pregnancy, lactation or during the laying period
The safety of the product was tested on females intended for reproduction, pregnant and lactating females, receiving multiple consecutive doses three times higher than the therapeutic dose. Fypryst spot-on solution can be applied to breeding females and pregnant females, as well as lactating females.
