Properties:
For many people, oregano is just a particularly aromatic herb used in the kitchen (Origanum marjoram). But there was one species, Origanum vulgare, rich in volatile oils, whose beneficial properties for health were known since ancient times. Thus, among the first peoples to recognize the qualities of oregano oil were the ancient Greeks and the Chinese.
They used oregano in case of fever, diarrhea, hepatitis, mycoses.

The two active substances, thymol and carvacrol, according to the researchers, help fluidize the mucus in the lungs and eliminate bronchial spasms.
Oregano essential oil is effective in digestive problems, because the thymol and carvacrol in the composition have a gastric soothing effect and also help digestion.
It has antifungal and antimicrobial effect, having a broad spectrum. Thus, it acts effectively against bacteria of the genus Salmonella, Escherichia coli, but also Staphylococcus aureus or Klebsiella pneumoniae.
