What it contains:
Raw, unrefined sugar obtained from high-quality sugar cane from Mauritius. High molasses content - hence the paste form.
Historical:
The name comes from the Greek "Melan" - black or according to other sources from the Portuguese word "melaço", itself derived from the Latin word Mel or honey.
Recommendations:
We recommend it for use especially for cakes, due to its special taste.
How to consume:
- Various cakes or desserts can be prepared: delicious caramel tarts, apple and fruit cake, rhubarb and ginger cake, pancakes.
- In milk or tea, with cereal, muesli or other foods, molasses sugar has an unmistakable taste.
- Other culinary uses are salad dressings, marinades for meat and fish, or even as a syrup poured over desserts with fresh fruit.
- Delicious contrasts appear in the combination with red berries, citrus fruits or even vegetables: parsnips, cauliflower, pumpkin or sweet potatoes, before baking in the oven.
- After opening, it should be stored in an airtight glass container as it hardens.
