They inhibit fibrosis processes in the liver by reducing collagen production and increasing the activity of the enzyme that breaks it down - collagenase. Phospholipids, apart from bile acids, also play an important role in the digestion of fats and the absorption of vitamins dissolved in them. Moreover, the polyunsaturated fatty acids included in phospholipids reduce the level of cholesterol and normalize the level of lipoproteins in the serum, demonstrating beneficial antiatherosclerotic effects.
