The Budwig diet is classified as a therapeutic diet and is called the oil-protein diet. The Budwig diet consists of strictly defined nutritional principles, but Budwig paste plays a special role in it. It consists of low-fat cottage cheese and linseed oil. Capsules from the Polish company GAL ® have been developed to provide some of this ingredient.
Linseed oil is the oil obtained by cold pressing common linseed ( Linum usitatissimum ). It is characterized by a yellowish color and an intense, acidic taste. Flaxseed oil is a particularly valuable source of essential fatty acids (EFAs), including omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid ALA) and omega-6 (linoleic acid LA).
Linoleic acid (LA) and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) help maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. The beneficial effect occurs when 10 g of LA and 2 g of ALA are consumed per day. Each capsule of GAL ® linseed oil contains almost 1.7 g of ALA and 0.5 g of LA, and the recommended daily dose for use as a supplement to a balanced diet is 3 capsules.
The package of GAL ® linseed oil for the Dr Budwig diet contains 40 flexible capsules. Including flaxseed oil in a gelatin layer extends its shelf life and protects valuable nutrients from oxidation.
