Hirudoid forte is used for the local treatment of: - blunt injuries with or without hematomas (blood ecchymoses), - superficial thrombophlebitis (inflammation of veins) that cannot be treated with compression bandages.
Do not use Hirudoid forte - if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to glycosaminoglycan polysulfate (mucopolysaccharide polysulfate) or any of the other ingredients of Hirudoid forte. - when you have open wounds or damaged skin, you should not apply Hirudoid forte to these places.
Be especially careful when using Hirudoid forte - so that it does not come into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes.
Using Hirudoid forte with food and drink You can apply Hirudoid forte regardless of food intake.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine. No harmful effects on the fetus or newborn have been reported from topical use of mucopolysaccharide polysaccharide (mucopolysaccharide polysaccharide) in pregnant or lactating women.
Driving and using machines Hirudoid forte does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
How to use Hirudoid forte Hirudoid forte is rubbed into the skin. Hirudoid forte is applied to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day; if necessary, it can be used more often. Depending on the extent of the affected area, a strip of ointment 3 to 5 cm long is usually sufficient. In case of painful inflammation, the ointment is carefully applied in a thicker layer to the affected area, and its surroundings are covered with bandage material. To intensify the healing effect, Hirudoid forte can also be applied in the more distant surroundings of the affected area. The duration of treatment for blunt injuries is usually up to 10 days, and for superficial thrombosis one to two weeks
