Mask gel for the treatment of closed and open comedones, 30 ml, Solartium Group

• What is Mask gel and what is it used for?
• Mask gel is a pharmaceutical preparation that contains a double combination of keratolytic agents, tretinoin and glycolic acid, with clinically proven effectiveness in the treatment of acne vulgaris with a predominant retention component.
• Mask gel is recommended for acne in which white and black dots predominate (comedonia) and as an adjunct to oral antibiotics in the treatment of more severe forms, acting complementary and reducing acne lesions faster. Mask gel has a direct action of inhibiting the formation of microcomedones, precursor lesions of comedones and inflammatory lesions, being the first recommendation of the International Guidelines for maintaining therapeutic results and preventing recurrent episodes.

Mode of action

• Tretinoin: retinoid for pharmaceutical use with the most clinical studies demonstrating its effectiveness in the treatment of acne vulgaris, contributes to the elimination of white and black dots, prevents the reformation of acne lesions and has an anti-inflammatory effect.
• Glycolic acid: exfoliant with the effect of faster reduction of acne lesions and local stimulation of collagen. In combination with tretinoin, it prevents post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and the development of post-acne scars.

The double combination works for:

- reduction of white and black points (comedones);
- prevention and treatment of post-inflammatory pigment spots;
- prevention of post-acne scars;
- prevention of the reformation of acne lesions and recurrent episodes.

The hydrogel base is associated with Polyvinyl A. (PVA), a non-occlusive pharmaceutical biopolymer that increases the compliance and safety of Mask gel treatment. The studies carried out in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Milan demonstrated that, thanks to the association with PVA, none of the Mask gel components has a significant systemic absorption and no associated risk of long-term adverse reactions. At the same time, the studies did not highlight any contraindication associated with the use of the product.
