Description
The active substance is ibuprofen, which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
The medicated patch is used for the short-term local symptomatic treatment of pain in acute muscle strains or sprains in benign (less serious) injuries near the joints of the upper or lower limbs.
Use
Dosage and dosage regimens
Adults and adolescents from 16 years of age: One medicated patch is equal to one dose. The maximum dose in 24 hours is 1 medical patch. Medicated plaster should be used for the shortest possible time necessary to suppress the symptom of the disease. The duration of treatment should not exceed 5 days. Therapeutic benefit when used for more than 5 days has not been determined.
If the drug is used by a woman who is trying to become pregnant or during the first and second trimester of pregnancy, the dose should be as low as possible and the treatment should last as short as possible.
If the condition does not improve during treatment or even worsens, the patient should seek medical attention.
Mode of use
The medicated patch must be applied as a whole and not divided. The patch can be applied at any time during the day or night, but must be removed and replaced with a new patch at the same time the following day. The medicated patch should not be used in combination with an occlusive dressing.
It is recommended to carefully clean and dry the treated area before applying the patch. Apply only to intact skin. First, the central part of the drug release layer that serves to protect the adhesive surface is removed and this surface is applied to the painful area. After fixation, the remaining part of the drug release layer on the edges of the patch is removed.
If necessary, it can be used on or near the joint, as it allows free movement. It is necessary to prevent the contact of the patch with moisture.
Warning
The drug is contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy. Unless absolutely necessary, the drug should not be administered during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy.
It is not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding during short-term use of the medicinal patch in the recommended doses. Do not apply directly to the breast area of a nursing mother.
The safety and efficacy of the drug in children and adolescents under 16 years of age have not been established.
NSAIDs should be used with caution in elderly patients, as the risk of adverse reactions is increased.
The use of patches for eyes, lips or mucous membranes is contraindicated.
Patients should avoid exposing the treated area to strong natural and/or artificial light sources (eg, sun lamps) during treatment and for one day after patch removal.
The period of validity after the first opening of the bag is 6 months. Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C, in the original package in order to protect from light. Additional special warnings are given in the SmPC (section 4.4).
