Piroxicam, 3% cream 35 g, Antibiotice SA
Indications:
Piroxicam cream is indicated in the treatment of:
- extra-articular inflammatory conditions (myalgia, tendinitis, tenosynovitis, acute lumbago without spinal cord compression, epicondylitis;
- osteoarthritis, periarthritis, rheumatoid polyarthritis.
Piroxicam cream can also be used in the symptomatic treatment of traumatic musculo-articular conditions (strains, contusions, sprains, dislocations).
Composition:
100 g of cream contain piroxicam 3 g and excipients: menthol, ethyl alcohol, emulsifier cetylstearyl alcohol type A (Lanette N), propylene glycol, octyldodecanol (Eutanol G), methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, n-propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, purified water.
Administration method:
- Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Piroxicam Atb is for external use only.
- The recommended dose is 1 g of cream (approximately 3-4 cm) 2-4 times a day. Gently massage the painful and/or inflamed area after applying the cream. Do not apply Piroxicam Atb to damaged skin or under an occlusive dressing.
- Wash your hands thoroughly after applying this cream, unless it is the treated area.
Contraindications:
Piroxicam cream is contraindicated in the following cases:
- hypersensitivity to piroxicam, acetylsalicylic acid, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or to any of the excipients of the product;
- skin lesions such as suppurative dermatitis, eczema, infected lesions, burns, wounds;
- children under 15 years old.
Precautions:
- Before using Piroxicam Atb, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine is for external use only. Do not apply Piroxicam Atb on mucous membranes or at eye level. If this happens accidentally, wash with plenty of water.
- Avoid administering Piroxicam Atb under an occlusive dressing.
- Discontinue the application of Piroxicam Atb immediately if local irritation or any skin reaction occurs at the application site.
- The use of gloves is recommended by people who use Piroxicam Atb intensively (for example: massage therapists).
- Avoid exposure to ultraviolet radiation during treatment with Piroxicam Atb, due to the risk of photosensitisation.
- In the case of accidental administration to children under 2 years of age, due to the menthol content of the medicine, the sensation of suffocation, asthma attacks or even respiratory failure may occur.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this
- drug.
- Administration of this medicine is not recommended during the first two trimesters of pregnancy and is contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy.
- Piroxicam passes into breast milk, so avoid using this cream if you are breastfeeding.
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Driving vehicles and using machines:
Piroxicam Atb has no influence on the ability to drive vehicles or use machines.
