The food supplement ProbioBalance by Aliness® Sport & Fitness Balance contains 30 billion bacteria in each capsule. Each bacterium was coated with a lipid bilayer, providing an effective barrier and allowing the bacteria to safely pass through the acidic environment of the stomach to arrive intact in the intestines, where it is expected to exert its biological activity.

Microencapsulated bacteria :

The patented MICROENCAPULATION technology is a lipid bilayer that surrounds the bacterial cell. Low water activity (aw) :

Probiotic bacteria are very sensitive to the aquatic environment. Manufacturers often use different types of fiber or inulin as a filler. Their environment is not favorable for bacteria because their water activity is above aw 0.2 The water activity of the carrier is of enormous importance in the case of probiotics. It is the carrier that has the most contact with the bacteria at any given time. If the water activity is above aw 0.2, the enzymes contained in the bacteria begin to activate, leading to their destruction. If we do not use a carrier with adequate water activity, the various protective measures used by manufacturers, such as cellulose capsules, DerrCaps or even aluminum-aluminum blisters, will be of little use.
