Description

Prospan syrup is used for the treatment of acute inflammation of the respiratory tract accompanied by cough in children and adolescents . After consultation with the doctor, it is also used for the treatment of chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract accompanied by cough.

As a medicine, it contains ivy leaf extract, which:

Dosage and method of administration

Prospan dose for infants (children under 1 year) and children under 5 years: 2.5 ml of syrup twice a day (equivalent to 35 mg of dry ivy leaf extract).

Prospan dose for children aged 6-12 years: 5 ml of syrup twice a day (corresponding to 70 mg of dry ivy leaf extract).

Prospan dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 5 ml of solution three times a day (corresponding to 105 mg of dry ivy leaf extract.

The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the clinical condition. However, treatment should last at least a week even with mild inflammation of the airways. Treatment with Prospan should continue for 2-3 days after symptoms have subsided to ensure its success. If you do not feel better or if you feel worse within 7 days, you should contact your doctor.

Composition

The active ingredient is 700 mg of dry ivy leaf extract (DER 5 – 7.5: 1) in 100 ml of syrup. Extraction agent: ethanol 30% (m/m). Other ingredients are potassium sorbate, anhydrous citric acid, crystallizing sorbitol 70%, xanthan gum, cherry flavor and purified water.

Warning

Do not use if you are allergic to dry ivy leaf extract or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. In case of breathing difficulties, fever or the presence of blood or pus in coughed up mucus, it is necessary to consult a doctor or pharmacist immediately.
