What it is, how it works

Golden brown on the surface, light to dark green on the inside, greasy to the touch, plus a specific earthy smell - this is what the fine soap from purely natural ingredients looks like, which Aleppo soap makers have been producing for almost 4,000 years from olives and laurel oil.

Olive oil treats and softens. Bay oil cleanses, heals and helps to soothe problem skin and skin diseases (acne, eczema, boils in children). The higher the bay oil content in the soap, the stronger its beneficial effect.

In some cases, however, bay oil can cause an allergic reaction. Our soap with 5% bay oil is suitable for all those who prefer very mild and purely natural soaps. It is also ideal for a first try if you suffer from skin problems and want to use products with a higher content of this ingredient.

Store the soap in a dry place. If it stays in a humid place for a long time, it will get wet and form a gel on the surface.

What is it used for?

Thanks to its extraordinary effects , the 100% natural Aleppo soap is suitable for daily use and for all skin types. You can wash your face, body and private parts with it. You can also use it for hair care, it helps with scalp diseases, including dandruff (we recommend adding a natural conditioner with an acidic pH).

The raw materials and production process of Aleppo soap remain the same even after centuries. Olive and bay oil , water and caustic soda are first boiled in huge cauldrons, then the dark green soap solution is poured onto the floor of the drying room and allowed to solidify. This is followed by hand cutting into neat cubes and six to nine months of air drying.

In Syria, this fine foaming soap is also used in traditional baths, the tradition of which was established by the Romans when this area became their province. The Crusaders brought knowledge of Aleppo soap production to Europe, where it soon began to be exported. In France, based on his example, they developed the famous Marseille soap. But only the original raw materials and the processing procedure give Aleppo soap its unique softening effects.
