What is sinupret acute tablets and what is it used for

Sinupret acute dragees is a medicine obtained from plants, which is used in adults to treat acute and uncomplicated inflammation of the paranasal sinuses.

The medicine is produced by the German company Bionorica SE and represents the concentrated form of Sinupret medicine, 50 dragees, a medicine used for over 80 years in the treatment of acute and chronic inflammation of the paranasal sinuses.

What does Sinupret acute tablets contain

• The active substance is native dry extract (3-6:1) of gentian root (Gentiana lutea L.), cuckoo flowers (Primula veris L.), cattail grass (Rumex crispus L.), elder flowers ( Sambucus nigra L.), verbena grass (Verbena officinalis L.) (1:3:3:3:3) 1. extraction solvent: ethanol 51% (m/m).
• Each dragee contains 160.00 mg native dry extract.

Administration

Always take Sinupret acute tablets exactly as it is presented in the leaflet. Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the dose for:

• adults is 1 tablet 3 times a day (3 tablets/day)
• Sinupret acute dragees must be swallowed with a sufficient amount of liquid (for example, a glass of water) 3 times a day (morning, lunch and evening), without chewing the dragees.

If you have a sensitive stomach, Sinupret acute tablets should be taken preferably after meals

If not recommended otherwise, the duration of treatment is: 7-14 days. If during this time you do not notice the improvement of the symptoms, respectively if the manifestations persist after this time, please contact your doctor.

Before using dragees alone

• Do not use Sinupret acute tablets if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance or to any of the other components of this medicine mentioned in the medicine leaflet or
• if you have had or have gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer.

Warnings and precautions

Contact your doctor if the symptoms persist for more than 7-14 days, if they worsen or reappear periodically and/or if fever, nosebleeds, severe pain, purulent nasal discharge, visual disturbance occur, respectively if the face becomes asymmetrical or if you feel numbness in the face.

Use of other medicines

There have been no systematic studies on the interaction with other drugs. For this reason, it cannot be excluded that the simultaneous administration with other drugs may cause greater or lesser effects of these drugs. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

• For safety reasons, the administration of Sinupret acute tablets should be avoided during pregnancy.
• It is not known whether the active substances in Sinupret acute tablets are excreted in human milk. Sinupret acute tablets should not be used during breastfeeding.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you think you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Sinupret acute tablets contain glucose and (sugar) sucrose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to certain categories of carbohydrates, please ask him before taking this medicine. Note for patients with diabetes: One dragee contains on average 0.3 g of digestible carbohydrates.
