Properties:

• consists of a transparent adhesive dressing and an integrated layer of gel containing 2% chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG), a renowned antiseptic agent with a wide spectrum of antimicrobial and antifungal activity;
• the gel layer absorbs the fluid;
• the transparent and waterproof film provides an effective barrier against external contamination with fluids, bacteria, viruses, mycoses and protects the intravenous injection site;
• in vitro tests demonstrate that the Tegaderm CHG gel layer in the dressing has an antimicrobial effect against a diverse range of gram-positive, gram-negative bacteria and yeast;
• the 3M™ Tegaderm™ CHG dressing is transparent, which helps to continuously monitor the location and allows the area to breathe, ensuring an optimal exchange of moisture vapors;
• in vitro tests indicate that the transparent layer of the Tegaderm CHG dressing provides a barrier against viruses with a diameter of 27nm or larger, and the dressing remains intact, without leaks;
• used to cover and protect catheter insertion areas and to fix devices to the skin;
• frequent uses include securing and covering central venous and arterial catheters, intravenous catheters, other intravascular catheters and percussive devices;
• can be used to reduce skin and catheter colonization;
• can be used to suppress the regrowth of microorganisms commonly associated with bloodstream infections;
• aims to reduce catheter-associated bloodstream infections (CRBSI) in patients with central venous catheters or arterial catheters.
