"Xylitol is as sweet as sucrose, but with only two-thirds the calories. It is found in the fibers of many fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, grains or in the bark of trees such as birch.
Also known as "birch sugar", it is not an artificial sweetener, but an organic compound with a long history.
