It is known for its antiseptic effect and stimulation of skin healing, used in the care of irritated skin, including for children. It is an excellent protective filter against UV radiation and is used as a white pigment for make-up preparations.

A very widespread ingredient in cosmetic applications, being useful both as a pigment and as an antiseptic, purifying agent or stimulator of skin healing. As a recognized UVA and UVB filter, it acts as a physical barrier to protect the skin. In make-up compositions, it increases the opacity of other pigments, improves the adhesion of pigments on the skin, increases the covering power of compositions such as foundation, concealer or lipstick.

Characteristics:

• Particle size 0.2-1.0 microns (200-1000 nm).

Ingredients (INCI):
Zinc oxide.

Properties:

- forms a protective barrier on the skin;
- UV protective mineral filter;
- protects the skin from moisture, especially useful for babies' buttocks;
- antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic; inhibits the development of fungi and prevents the proliferation of bacteria on the skin;
- white pigment with covering power, filler and opacifier;
- insoluble in water or oils, dispersible in aqueous, oily media and in emulsions.

Mode of use in cosmetics:

- it can be included as an ingredient for the formulation of creams, balms and ointments for the care of skin irritated or affected by eczema, acne;
- as an ingredient for the preparation of creams and balms for the care of the skin of babies in the area covered by the diaper;
- as an ingredient for face powder in case of acne;
- included in make-up compositions as an ingredient, as a white base or for a protective contribution: face powder, foundation, blush, lipstick;
- as an ingredient in sunscreen compositions, with the mention that the SPF index is not quantifiable only depending on the dosage used;
- as a white pigment for soaps;
- as an ingredient for deodorants;
- indicative dosage: for diaper cream 5-20%, for make-up products 2-50%, in sun protection creams, up to 20%;
- we recommend the combination with esseSol for creams with increased sun protection, broad-spectrum;
- it can be included in the cream base, previously homogenized with a small part of the cream.
