Diabecon

Diabecon is available in tablet form, packaged in bottles that usually contain 60 tablets. 

Each tablet contains a standardised mixture of numerous medicinal plants, mineral powders and natural compounds that play a role in normalising carbohydrate metabolism. 

Diabecon is mainly used for:

• Supporting normal blood glucose levels: this action is particularly relevant in patients with non-insulin-dependent diabetes (type 2 diabetes), by stimulating pancreatic insulin secretion and improving peripheral insulin sensitivity.
• Reducing diabetes complications, including kidney damage, cardiovascular risks, and retinal changes associated with chronic hyperglycaemia.
• Adjuvant in antidiabetic therapy: it can be administered concomitantly with oral hypoglycaemic agents, as recommended by a doctor. In insulin-dependent diabetes, administration is carried out exclusively according to a protocol established by a specialist, being used only as a supplement.
• Supporting the body in states of oxidative stress: the presence of powerful antioxidants helps protect tissues against free radicals.

For adults, take 2 tablets twice a day before meals for optimal effect. In special situations or as recommended by your doctor, the dose may be increased to 2 tablets three times a day.

The duration of treatment is determined individually, but long-term use is often necessary in the context of type 2 diabetes.

Diabecon is contraindicated in the following situations:

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
• Insulin-dependent diabetes (type 1), without medical recommendation
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding - the lack of adequate clinical studies requires avoidance of administration
• Children and adolescents - due to the lack of safety data for these categories.

Diabecon administration may require medical supervision in the following situations:

• Combination with oral antidiabetics or insulin
• Liver or kidney impairment - Some ingredients are metabolised by the liver and others are excreted by the kidneys; regular monitoring is recommended.
• Preoperative use - Administration should be discontinued several days prior to any surgical procedure to avoid glycaemic imbalances.

If you suffer from other severe chronic diseases, it is advisable to consult your doctor before taking Diabecon.

In general, Diabecon is considered safe, and adverse reactions are rare and usually mild. Possible effects include:

• gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal discomfort, mild bloating);
• allergic reactions to plants (skin rash, itching);
• excessive decreases in blood sugar, especially in combination with other antidiabetic drugs;

If any atypical symptoms occur, administration should be stopped and medical advice sought.

Diabecon may interact with:

• Oral antidiabetic drugs (metformin, sulphonylureas) – May potentiate the hypoglycaemic effect.
• Insulin – Requires dose adjustment to prevent hypoglycaemia.
• Diuretics and antihypertensives – Some plants have a mild diuretic effect and may alter the response to these medicines.

Overdose with Diabecon is rarely reported, but may cause severe hypoglycaemia (cold sweats, tremors, confusion), intense digestive symptoms, severe allergic reactions.

If overdose is suspected, it is recommended to stop administration immediately and seek medical attention.

The product should be stored at temperatures between 15–25°C. Avoid exposure to moisture and excessive light. The tablets should be kept in their original packaging. Use before the expiry date stated on the packaging.
