Description
Acetylsalicylic Acid 100 mg, 30 tablets, Gedeon Richter Romania
Indications:
This medicine contains the active substance acetylsalicylic acid and belongs to a group of medicines called antiplatelet agents. Platelets are small cells present in the blood that participate in blood clotting and are involved in thrombosis (the formation of blood clots).
This medicine works by preventing blood clots and is used:
- to reduce the risk of mortality in patients with suspected heart attack (acute myocardial infarction);
- to prevent the recurrence of heart attack;
- in case of severe chest pain known as "unstable angina";
- after certain vascular surgical interventions performed to improve blood circulation to the heart;
- to reduce the risk of stroke (transient ischemic attacks and cerebral infarction).
Composition:
- The active substance is acetylsalicylic acid. Each tablet contains acetylsalicylic acid 100 mg.
Method of administration:
Recommended doses
- to reduce the risk of mortality in patients with suspected heart attack: an initial dose of 1-3 tablets (equivalent to 100-300 mg acetylsalicylic acid) is administered as soon as a heart attack is suspected. To achieve a faster effect, chew the initial dose. You should then administer a maintenance dose of 1-3 tablets (equivalent to 100-300 mg acetylsalicylic acid) per day for 30 days after the heart attack.
- to prevent the recurrence of heart attack and to reduce the risk of stroke (transient ischemic attacks and cerebral infarction): the recommended dose is 1 tablet (equivalent to 100 mg acetylsalicylic acid) per day.
Precautions and contraindications:
Before taking Acetylsalicylic acid-Richter, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
In particular, tell your doctor if:
- you are allergic to medicines used against pain, inflammation and rheumatism or if you suffer from other allergies;
- you suffer from bronchial asthma, hay fever, nasal polyps or chronic respiratory tract diseases, or if you have allergic reactions (e.g. skin rashes, itching, hives) to other substances. In these cases, the use of acetylsalicylic acid may trigger spasmodic contractions of the bronchi, asthma attacks or other allergic reactions;
- you have suffered from ulcers in the stomach or intestine in the past, including chronic or recurrent (repeated) ulcers, or bleeding in the stomach and intestine;
- you are taking medication to prevent blood clotting;
- you suffer from impaired kidney function (renal failure), damage to the heart and blood vessels (for example, diseases of the blood vessels in the kidneys, heart disease with insufficient ability to pump blood, decreased circulating blood volume, major surgery, infection in the blood (sepsis) or major bleeding);
- you suffer from a severe lack of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
- you suffer from impaired liver function (hepatic failure);
- you are planning to have surgery, including minor surgery, for example, tooth extractions, as acetylsalicylic acid may lead to an increased tendency to bleed during and after surgery;
- you have or have had gout in the past, as this medicine may trigger gout attacks.
Children and adolescents:
In children and adolescents with viral infections, with or without fever, acetylsalicylic acid can cause Reye's syndrome, a very rare but potentially life-threatening condition. For this reason, do not use this medicine in children and adolescents without the advice of a doctor.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Task
If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you should tell your doctor immediately to discuss an alternative treatment method. During the first two trimesters of pregnancy, low doses of this medicine may be used, but only on the advice of your doctor. Use of this medicine in the last trimester of pregnancy is contraindicated, as it may seriously affect the development of your baby.
breast-feeding
This medicine passes into breast milk in small amounts. No negative effects on the child have been reported so far, therefore it is not necessary to interrupt breastfeeding. However, if you need higher doses (more than 150 mg per day) or regular use, you should interrupt breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines:
This medicine does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
