The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Committee for Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC) have approved the use of ginkgo biloba (leaves) as a traditional herbal medicine for short-term use to improve memory and age-related cognitive decline (decline in mental abilities) and quality of life in adults with mild dementia. It is also approved for the relief of a feeling of heaviness in the legs and a feeling of cold hands and feet associated with non-chronic circulatory problems.
