Voltaren Forte, 23.2 mg/g gel, 2x150 g, Gsk

Voltaren Forte contains the active substance diclofenac, which belongs to the group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is specially designed to be absorbed into the skin by massage and increases the permeability of the skin. The active substance penetrates deep into the inflamed tissue.

Voltaren Forte is used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and swelling in painful conditions of the joints and muscles.

Voltaren Forte can be used to treat the following conditions:

Adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over:

Joint and muscle injuries (e.g. sprains, dislocations, bruises, back pain, sports injuries); quickly relieves pain, including moderate to severe pain, improves patient mobility and helps restore normal function

Tendinitis (e.g. tennis elbow), inflammation of the tendons around the elbow or knee.

Adults only (aged 18 and over):

Mild osteoarthritis of the knees or fingers or of the spine.

Composition :

The active substance is diclofenac diethylamine. One gram of gel contains diclofenac diethylamine 23.2 mg, corresponding to diclofenac sodium 20 mg.

This medicine contains 50 mg propylene glycol and 0.2 mg butylhydroxytoluene per gram of gel.

Method of administration:

Always use Voltaren Forte exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

For adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over:

Apply Voltaren Forte 2 times a day (morning and evening) to the painful area; the pain is relieved for a long period of time, up to 12 hours.

Contraindications:

Do not use Voltaren Forte:

If you are allergic to diclofenac or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to treat pain, fever or inflammation, such as ibuprofen or aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include: wheezing (bronchial asthma) or difficulty breathing; hives or a skin rash with blisters; swelling of the face or tongue; runny nose

If you are pregnant in the last 3 months of pregnancy

If you are under 14 years of age.

Precautions:

Do not apply the gel if you have any skin lesions such as cuts, open wounds or skin with hives or eczema. If hives start to appear on your skin after applying the medicine, stop treatment.

Do not use more of the medicine than directed or for a longer period of time than directed, unless your doctor tells you to.

Voltaren Forte is for external use only.

Do not use in the oral cavity.

Do not swallow.

Wash your hands after use.

Avoid contact with eyes.

If this happens, rinse your eyes with plenty of running water.

Contact your doctor or pharmacist if discomfort persists.

You can use an elastic bandage (orthosis) or specific bandages for sprains, but do not use the gel under occlusive elastic bandages (plastic).

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Voltaren Forte should not be used during the last 3 months of pregnancy, as it may harm the fetus or cause problems during delivery. Voltaren Forte should only be used on the advice of a doctor during the first 6 months of pregnancy and the dose should be kept as low and the duration of treatment as short as possible.

During breastfeeding Voltaren Forte should only be used on the advice of a doctor, as diclofenac passes into breast milk in small amounts. However, Voltaren Forte should not be applied to the breasts by nursing mothers, nor elsewhere on large areas of skin or for a longer period of time.

Driving and using machines:

Voltaren Forte does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
