Acetylsalicylic Acid 500 mg and Calcium Gluconate 150 mg, 30 tablets, Gedeon Richter Romania

This medicine contains acetylsalicylic acid as an active substance and belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with properties to reduce pain, fever and inflammation.

It is indicated for:

• symptomatic treatment of mild or moderate pains, headaches, muscle pains, rheumatic pains in and around the joints, acute pains located along the path of a nerve, toothaches and menstrual pains
• symptomatic treatment of fever.

Composition:

One tablet contains acetylsalicylic acid 500 mg, calcium gluconate 150 mg and excipients: corn starch, Macrogol 6000, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, talc, potato starch, magnesium stearate.

How to use:

• Adults: 500 mg acetylsalicylic acid (one tablet Acetylsalicylic acid-Richter 500 mg) repeating the dose according to needs at 4-hour intervals
• The maximum daily dose is 4 g of acetylsalicylic acid (8 tablets Acetylsalicylic acid-Richter 500 mg)
• Adolescents over 16 years old: 250 mg acetylsalicylic acid, repeating the dose according to needs at intervals of 4-8 hours
• Children and adolescents under the age of 16: the use of acetylsalicylic acid in children and adolescents under the age of 16 is not recommended
• Take the tablets after meals, with plenty of liquid
• Do not use this medicine for more than 3-5 days without consulting your doctor
• If you take more Acetylsalicylic Acid-Richter than you should: symptoms of overdose may include rapid breathing, excessive sweating, nausea and vomiting. In case of a more severe overdose, you may experience fever, dizziness, heart rhythm disorders, ringing in the ears, confusion, convulsions and coma. Dizziness and ringing in the ears, especially in children and the elderly, can indicate serious poisoning. Please contact your doctor immediately if you have taken too much of this medicine. Your doctor will decide what measures should be taken depending on the severity of the overdose
• If you forget to take Acetylsalicylic Acid-Richter: do not take a double dose to make up for the forgotten dose. Continue to take the medicine as mentioned in this leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor
• If you have any additional questions about this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Possible side effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if any of the following severe, life-threatening side effects occur:

• swelling of the face, tongue, throat, difficulty in swallowing and breathing, wheezing, rashes
• skin rashes, fainting (severe allergic reactions: angioedema (rare), anaphylactic shock (very rare)
• bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, for example, vomiting blood, traces of blood in the stool or black stool (rare)
• bleeding in the brain with paralysis, speech disorders, especially in patients with high and uncontrolled blood pressure values ​​and concomitant administration of anticoagulant drugs (very rare)
• severe skin reactions (very rare)
• severe stomach pain caused by ulcer perforation (very rare).

Other side effects reported:

Blood disorders:

• anemia and iron-deficiency anemia (as a result of small bleeding in the stomach and intestine) which manifests itself through fatigue, pale skin, dizziness and changes in the results of laboratory tests
• destruction of red blood cells (hemolysis), anemia due to destruction of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia) in patients with severe deficiency of the glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase enzyme.

Immune system disorders:

• bronchial asthma, mild to moderate allergic reactions, in the form of skin rashes, hives, fluid retention in the body (edema), itching, inflammation of the nasal mucosa (rhinitis), nasal congestion, cardiorespiratory failure.

Metabolism disorders:

• isolated cases of low blood sugar concentrations.

Disorders of the nervous system:

• dizziness
• ringing in the ears.

Blood vessel disorders:

• bleeding, bleeding during and after surgery
• bruise.

Disorders of the respiratory system:

• nosebleeds.

Gastrointestinal disorders:

• frequent: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and small bleeding in the stomach and intestines
• bleeding gums
• indigestion, pain in the stomach and intestine, abdominal pain, rarely inflammation and ulcers in the stomach and intestine, which can develop into complications, such as bleeding and perforation.

Disorders of the liver and bile:

• Very rarely, impairment of liver function with increased levels of some liver enzymes (transaminases) in the blood.

Kidney and urinary tract disorders:

• Urine with blood
• Impairment of kidney function (renal failure, acute renal failure).

Additional adverse reactions in children and adolescents

• In children and adolescents with viral infections, with or without fever, who were administered acetylsalicylic acid, the occurrence of Reye's syndrome (severe damage to the liver and brain) was reported.
