Ambroksol Orifarm is a medicine in the form of banana-flavored syrup. The active substance of the drug is ambroxol hydrochloride, which is derived from bromhexine. This substance belongs to a group of drugs that stimulate the secretion of bronchial mucus and reduce its viscosity.
When to use Ambroksol Orifarm 30 mg/5 ml?
Ambroksol Orifarm syrup is used in acute and chronic respiratory diseases that cause difficulty in expectorating viscous secretions from the respiratory tract, such as acute and chronic bronchitis, inflammation of the nose and throat, and cystic fibrosis. The drug is suitable for use by the whole family, including children over 1 year of age and adults.
After oral administration, ambroxol accelerates mucociliary transport and increases ciliary motility. In addition, it stimulates the production of alveolar and bronchial surfactant, which facilitates the separation of sticky mucus and mucus layers from the bronchial wall, as well as the removal of secretions from the upper respiratory tract. It also increases bronchial permeability and relieves cough. The effect of ambroxol appears approximately 30 minutes after application.
