Further information:
The yerba mate shrub (Ilex paraguariensis A.St.-Hil, also: Ilex paraguensis D.Don and Ilex paraguayensis Hook.), also called yerba mate tree, is a species of holly (Ilex) in the holly family (Ilexaceae). It is native to South America. Mate is also the name of a widely consumed South American infusion made by steeping finely chopped, dried leaves of Ilex paraguayensis. Originally, mate referred to the drinking vessel (from the Quechua word mati, meaning drinking vessel), but nowadays it also refers to the beverage itself, which was called caiguá by the Guaraní people. The leaves, however, are called yerba.
The stated recommended daily intake must not be exceeded. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of small children.
