CitraFleet is a powder that has a lemon taste and smell.

Take CitraFleet to cleanse your bowel (also known as the small intestine and colon) before having a diagnostic procedure that requires a clean bowel, such as a colonoscopy (a procedure in which the inside of the bowel is viewed using a long, flexible instrument that the doctor inserts through the anus) or an X-ray examination.

It contains two types of laxatives mixed in each sachet which, when dissolved in water and drunk, have the effect of washing and cleansing the intestine.

It is important to have your bowel empty and clean so that the doctor or surgeon can see it clearly.

CitraFleet is indicated in adults (including the elderly) aged 18 years or older.

Composition:

• The active substances are sodium picosulfate 10.0 mg, light magnesium oxide 3.5 g, citric acid 10.97 g per sachet.
• The other ingredients are potassium hydrogen carbonate, sodium saccharin, lemon flavor (lemon flavor, maltodextrin, tocopherol E307).

Method of administration:

• Be prepared to have loose, frequent stools at any time after taking a dose of CitraFleet.
• This is normal and indicates that the medicine is working. It may be important to have access to a toilet until the effects of the medicine wear off.
• It is important to follow a special diet (reduced amounts of solid food) the day before the procedure is scheduled. When you start taking the sachets of this medicine, you should not eat any solid food until after the procedure is finished. You should always follow the diet prescribed by your doctor. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
• Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, you should not take more than the recommended dose in any 24-hour period.
• Treatment regimen: You will be given two sachets of CitraFleet. Each sachet contains one adult dose. Treatment can be administered in one of two ways:
• One envelope the evening before the procedure and the second envelope the morning of the procedure or
• One sachet in the afternoon and the second sachet in the evening before the procedure. This schedule is recommended when the procedure is planned for early morning or
• Both sachets on the morning of the procedure. This administration is only suitable when the procedure is scheduled for the afternoon/evening.
• The time period between taking the two sachets must be at least 5 hours.
• Each sachet should be reconstituted in a glass of water. Do not further dilute the medicine by drinking liquids immediately after taking each sachet.
• Wait ten minutes after taking each sachet, then drink approximately 1.5-2 litres of various clear liquids, at a rate of approximately 250 ml (one glass) to 400 ml (one large glass) per hour.
• To avoid dehydration, clear soups and/or balanced electrolyte solutions are recommended. It is recommended not to consume only plain or demineralized water.
• After taking the second sachet and drinking 1.5-2 liters of fluid, do not drink or eat anything for at least 2 hours before the procedure or as directed by your doctor.
• If you have any further questions on this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines:

• Do not drive or use any tools or machines if you start to feel dizzy or tired after taking CitraFleet.

Contraindications:

Do not take CitraFleet if you are allergic to sodium picosulfate, magnesium oxide, citric acid, or any of the other ingredients of this drug.
