Hedelix syrup, 100 ml, Krewel Meuselbach

Indications:
Hedelix 40 mg/ml belongs to the group of medicines called “other antitussives and expectorants”.
Hedelix 40 mg/ml is used as an adjuvant in the treatment of acute inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract and to improve symptoms in chronic inflammatory diseases of the airways.

Composition:
- The active substance is soft extract of ivy leaf. 1 ml (= 31 drops) contains: 40 mg soft extract of Hedera helix L., folium (ivy leaf) (2.2-2.9:1). The extraction solvents are ethanol 50 % (v/v) and propylene glycol (98:2 m/m).
- The other components are: propylene glycol, glycerol, flavors: volatile oil of Anisi stellati fructus, eucalyptus oil, levomenthol, water-soluble mint oil.
The finished product does not contain alcohol.

Method of administration:
The recommended doses are:
Adults, adolescents and children over 10 years of age: 5 ml Hedelix syrup 3 times a day (equivalent to 300 mg extract per day);
Children aged 4 to 10 years: 2.5 ml Hedelix syrup 4 times a day (equivalent to 200 mg extract per day);
Children aged 1 to 4 years: 2.5 ml syrup 3 times a day (equivalent to 150 mg extract per day);
Children aged 0 to 1 year: 2.5 ml Hedelix syrup per day (equivalent to 50 mg extract per day).

Oral administration:
Hedelix 40 mg/ml should be administered undiluted. Hedelix 40 mg/ml can be administered to children with a little tea or fruit juice. Hedelix 40 mg/ml can be administered independently of food intake.
Duration of treatment
The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the condition. Hedelix 40 mg/ml will be administered for 5-7 days and if symptoms persist or worsen after 5 days, you should consult a doctor.
If you have the impression that the effect of Hedelix 40 mg/ml is too strong or too weak, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications:
Do not take Hedelix 40 mg/ml
-if you are allergic to ivy leaves, levomenthol, plants of the Araliaceae family, such as Schefflera, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
-in infants and children under 2 years of age, as there is a risk of worsening respiratory symptoms;
-if you have arginine succinate synthetase enzyme deficiency (a metabolic disease of the urea cycle);
For infants and children under 2 years of age, there are other pharmaceutical forms that can be administered to them.

Precautions:
Hedelix 40 mg/ml contains plant extracts, which may cause a sediment to form, which may cause the solution to appear cloudy. In addition, the taste may change slightly; this does not make the medicine less effective.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Hedelix 40 mg/ml.
If symptoms persist under treatment or difficulty breathing, fever, purulent or bloody sputum occurs, please contact your doctor immediately.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
As there is not enough information, this medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Driving and using machines:
Hedelix has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
